I woke up about 3 in the morning, after hosting a birthday
party for my granddaughter, because of a weird noise in my living room. Just after I looked at the clock to see what
time it was, a cat raced into the room, over me (claws extended), and then
climbed under the bed. By then I was
wide awake and angry. I tried to coax the cat out from under the bed
to see if he was alright, but he wouldn’t budge. His eyes were huge black spheres and his fur
was standing up so badly I could see it even in the dark where he was
crouched. I gave up after a bit, and
went into the living room to see if I could figure out what had happened.
A balloon piece, probably lost during the balloon popping
contest, was lying in the middle of the living room floor. A piece of it was attached to the underside
of the couch, the other was in smaller pieces on the floor and each piece was
badly stretched. That’s when I realized
I was being watched by the cat who had crept down the stairs and was peeking
around the corner. I called him to me
but he wouldn’t move. I reached for the
balloon to throw it away and the cat raced up the stairs so fast I could hear
him as he scrambled under my bed.
Apparently, he had found the piece and tried to play with
it. When he realized it was stuck, I
believe he tried to pull it and it broke, snapping him in the face. Not funny, I know, but, funny all the
same. Pooooor kitty!
I finally coaxed him out from under the bed by the end of
the day and I could see he wasn’t hurt, but he still wouldn’t go near the
couch, giving it a wide berth, and I seriously doubt he will be playing with
any balloons for awhile.
