The Great Cat Sleuth, Salty

It was a dark rainy night in February.  The night sky flared with occasional lightening and the walls of the house shook from the mighty thunder.  Salty had been asleep, dreaming of his next great adventure when the sound of crinkling woke him up.  He sat for a moment trying to identify the sound.

 “Crinkle, crinkle, crinkle, crunch….”

“Hmmmmm,” Salty thought, as his quick mind began analyzing the sound.  “Could be a plastic bag caught in the storm,” he reasoned.  “Or, it could be a burglar attempting to gain access to our quaint home.  If it is a burglar,” he thought casually cleaning himself, “would they be wanting to steal our pets’ toys?”

Then it struck him, they wanted to steal the cats themselves!  This he could not allow.  He had to protect his family at all costs.  With that thought in mind, Salty slunk off the soft warm bed and crouched as close to the floor as possible.  He carefully made his way to the stairs and stopped to listen.  Crinkle, crunch”.  He carefully followed the sound and found a tall plastic bag sitting in front of the window.  Certain it was hiding the burglar, Salty pounced, and found himself sitting on what appeared to be an empty bag.  He stepped off and the bag mysteriously opened and righted itself.  Salty then jumped in the bag.

There was nothing there but an old paper with black smudges on it, but Salty found that chasing that paper around the bottom of the bag was great fun and he woke the rest of the family up with his pouncing and jumping antics.
"I found that pesky bag and I will battle it to the end."
 "I can see you."
"What to you mean there isn't anyone in here?  I know I heard them moving around."
