Cats are naturally nocturnal creatures and will generally sleep during the day and play at night. They shove little bell tinkling balls around the bedroom (remember they are just playing, not trying to keep you up) and they race across the bed as if the very demons of you know where were after them. Of course the fact that you now have scratches across your face and arms means nothing to them since you were in their way at the time (ha ha). When that cat, after they have kept you awake for the past four hours, decides they have worn themselves out, they will climb on the bed and curl up against you. Don't move or you'll get that evil glare that says you are supposed to be still when they wish to sleep!
Cats are such fickle creatures, but they do love you with all their hearts (so long as the food and the comfortable bed are available). Be careful not to show your cat too much affection or you will wind up with a lap kitty at the most inopportune times (like when you are trying to impress the Boss with your social skills and the cat jumps up on your lap and spills your tea all over you). Just kidding. Cats are basically love machines if you will. They like their attention, but only when it suits them. Be careful or you will find yourself the proud pet of a cute little kitty!
